What is Clinical Hypnosis

Clinical hypnosis is a safe, gentle and effective way to heal, reduce stress, relieve pain and to create chosen changes in one’s life.  Hypnotherapy increases one’s ability to control symptoms. The brain is incredibly powerful and contains priceless resources which can be mobilized for personal growth and healing.  Hypnosis helps the individual to use his own imagination to tap into his inner strength and resources.

Hypnosis is a state of mind. It is a lot like experiencing a pleasant daydream.  A person in a hypnotic trance may look like he is asleep; actually he is relaxed, concentrating and using his imagination.  The individual controls entering and exiting this relaxed state of consciousness.  If a hypnotherapist is involved, she acts as a coach or facilitator, guiding the person’s daydream.  An individual can learn self-hypnosis so he can enter that state of comfort and increased self-control at any time for his own benefit.  Learning self-hypnosis is a valuable life-long skill which is good for the body, mind and soul.

Hypnosis is about learning what you never knew you knew and controlling what you never knew you could. . . .

Using your mind. . . .

Daydreaming with a purpose.

Thinking to help yourself. . .

Learning how to work to control your mind. . . .

Hypnotherapy has been used successfully to treat pain, anxiety, fears, phobias, asthma, migraines, irritable bowel, bedwetting, tics, habit disorders such as smoking and many other problems.  It has also been used by students and athletes to enhance performance.  Increasing one’s ability to control symptoms through hypnosis strengthens confidence and mastery.  Personal success in self-hypnosis increases self-esteem.  Self-hypnosis is a skill which increases with practice.  The techniques can be used to meet new challenges through-out life.
