PAST NEWSLETTERS

Winter 2021

Dear Northeastern Mountain Society of Clinical Hypnosis members:  past, present, and future,

2020 certainly was an interesting and challenging year. The year was a crash course in technology, Zoom, and telehealth.  There was an abrupt learning curve on how to be effective clinicians while remaining safe and socially distant. Hopefully, 2021 will be a year with a return of some sort of normalcy and a healthy, peaceful planet.

NMSCH offered its first virtual workshop in September 2020. Back by popular demand “The ABCs of the Synergy of CBD, THC and HYP”. This 6 hour workshop remains available for purchase and download on our website. Offering 6 CEs for Psychologists, Mental Health Counselors, and Social Workers for just $75. If you are a current NMSCH member the cost is just $50.

Zoom has made offering virtual workshops easy to do and to attend right from the comfort of your office or living room. In the NMSCH Summer Newsletter, I requested topics of interest that individuals would like to see offered or present themselves.   It is not too late to send me your ideas. Suggested topics are listed in the Summer Newsletter posted on our website:  www.NMSCH.org

Currently, other ASCH component societies are choosing to participate in a reciprocity agreement. This would allow NMSCH members to receive member rates for continuing education programs offered by other component societies. Another member benefit to belonging to NMSCH for just $35 per year.

Each month, the North Carolina Society of Clinical Hypnosis, the Clinical Hypnosis Society of NJ, the Northern Virginia Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and the Eastern Society of Clinical Hypnosis offer a free Hypnotic Idea Exchange (HIE) to ASCH and component section members over Zoom. These Zoom meetings bring together leading experts and practitioners of hypnosis to exchange ideas on what they are doing in their work. Meetings offer participants: “1) Powerful insights from a panel of experts – ideas that can be readily applied in their hypnotic work as well as their own lives, 2) A forum to share creative hypnotic ideas of their own with each other and the panel, and 3) A source of professional community and camaraderie during these uncertain times.”  And they are FREE to NMSCH members. The most recent HIE was on Jan 11th at 7:30PM.  The panelists included Eric Spiegel and Rick Miller.

Prior panelists on the Hypnotic Idea Exchange included these experts in the field of hypnosis:
Ran Anbar, MD, FAAP
Carolyn Daitch, PhD
Peter W. Gardner, MD, FACP, FACG
Tobi B. Goldfus, LCSW-C, BCD
Lee Goldman, PhD
John Hall, PhD, ABPP
Cory Hammond, PhD, ABPHD
Hedy A. Howard, MD
Marjorie Howe, LCSW
Dana Lebo, PhD
Lynn Lyons, LCSW
Susan Pinco, PhD
Daniel Radesca, MD
Robert Staffin, PsyD, ABPH
Stacey Steck, MDiv, MA(MFT)
David Wark, PhD, ABPH
James W. Warnke, LCSW
Michael Yapko, PhD
Jeffrey Zeig, PhD

As a member of NMSCH for just $35, you have free access to the Hypnotic Idea Exchange.

Hypnosis is a powerful tool to help people as they negotiate the new norm during this global pandemic. I hope as clinicians you are discovering many creative opportunities to use your hypnotic talent to help your patients/clients negotiate the myriad of challenges they are facing. We will get through this, but we are stronger together. Join NMSCH today. Go to NMSCH.org, click on Contact and download the Membership Form.  We would like to include more member profiles on our website.  Please send me what information you would like posted on our website including specialty areas, insurances accepted, photo of you or your practice, etc. Send it to LindaThomson@Hypnovations.com

Don’t forget to register for the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis Annual meeting. It is virtual for you to enjoy from the comfort of your own home: March 4 – 7, 2021. You can register for the entire meeting, choose sessions a la carte, or sign up for a trauma track. Go to www.ASCH.net

Stay well and send me your ideas for how NMSCH can help you in your practice.

 Summer 2020

Dear Colleagues,

I hope that you are all well and staying safe amidst the global pandemic.

In this uncertain time our clients and patients need what we can offer even more.  How can Northern Mountain Society of Clinical Hypnosis help you during this “new norm”?  What virtual workshops would you like to see?  What speakers have you always wanted to hear?  Please let me know  LindaThomson@Hypnovations.com

During some extra free time due to COVID 19, I have created a new and exciting website for NMSCH.  Please put NMSCH.org in your browser and take a look.  Let me know what else you would like to see added to the website that would be useful to you or your clients.  I know one thing we need    is more members in our Membership Directory and more member profiles to showcase who we are.  Professional dues are tax deductible and NMSCH is only $35.  Our annual membership dues comes due in August.  Any dues payments made now will immediately activate your membership and be good through August 31, 2021.  That small amount gives you a discount at all the workshops sponsored or co-sponsored by NMSCH and the opportunity to market your services via our website.  Please download a membership application from our website and mail it to Maureen Turner, Box 328, Isle La Motte, VT 05463.

Many of you asked if we could repeat the workshop that NMSCH offered last fall on “The ABCs of the Synergy of CBD, THC and HYP”.  We will be offering it virtually for 4 hours the evening of September 11th and 2 hours on the12th.  Six CEs will be available for psychologists, social workers and mental health counselors for only $50 for members and $75 for non-members.   This workshop is also ASCH approved for 6 hours of advanced training.  More information along with the registration form can be downloaded at www.NMSCH.org, along with the membership form and mailed to:  Maureen Turner, Box 328, Isle La Motte, VT 05463.

During this unprecedented time I created a video to help people through this difficult time and a second one specifically for children.  They are freely available on youtube for yourself or your patients.  I have included the links below.  The videos were recently awarded the 2020 Community Impact Award.

Another idea to revitalize NMSCH during this era of COVID is to have free monthly webinars over Zoom for our members, taught by members to showcase our diverse skills, talents and applications of hypnosis in our practices.

Below is a list of possible topics, please put your initials before any that you would be interested in teaching, and an X next to any that you would like to hear but are not prepared to teach  (write in any topics that I have missed) and email it to me at LindaThomson@Hypnovations.com or mail it to me at: 131 Thomson Drive, Ludlow, VT 05149
